Signs Your Wisdom Teeth Will Need to Come Out

Posted on 8/9/2021 by Evan
Signs Your Wisdom Teeth Will Need to Come OutWisdom teeth are the last set of teeth that grow in your mouth. They mostly start to erupt in the early twenties or late teens. Although wisdom teeth are part of the natural setup in your mouth, they often cause severe oral health complications, especially if there is no enough room for them to grow. In such cases, they will have to be removed. Here are signs that show your wisdom teeth need to come out.

Irritation and Pain Around the Back of Your Mouth

If your wisdom teeth are growing correctly, you will not feel any discomfort or significant pain at the back of your mouth. If you feel any pain, it could be a sign that wisdom teeth are coming out wrongly. It could also be a sign that they are infected. In that case, you should get them removed as soon as possible.

Teeth Shifting in Your Mouth

When wisdom teeth come out incorrectly, your teeth may shift and affect your orthodontic shape. If there are any changes in tooth straightness and your bite, come to our offices and get wisdom teeth extracted. Leaving this condition untreated can lead to total damage to the jaw. Other oral conditions like gum recession could also occur.

Gum Inflammation

Gum inflammation could also occur due to wisdom teeth eruption. When these teeth come out, a condition known as "pericoronitis" can occur. This is where a small flap of gum tissue traps bacteria and food particles, causing serious discomfort and inflammation. If you notice your gums are bleeding, inflamed, or are painful near the wisdom teeth, you could be having gum inflammation. This condition could be a result of wisdom teeth eruption, and you need to come in for treatment immediately. Visit our offices for more information on the need to have wisdom teeth removed.
