Everything You Need to Know About World Oral Health Day

Posted on 4/12/2021 by Dagon Jones DDS
Everything You Need to Know About World Oral Health DayOn 20th March 2013, the FDI World Dental Federation launched the first World Oral Health Day to raise oral health and disease awareness. Every year since then, it features campaigns by National Dental Associations from over 130 countries to encourage governments, health associations, and the general public to work together to improve oral hygiene standards.

At Davis Dental Practice, Our doctors and our doctorsbelieve that it's our duty to spread oral health awareness in our community along with helping patients with their dental problems.

The Purpose of World Oral Health Day

Millions of people worldwide unnecessarily suffer from oral diseases. By providing the necessary knowledge through education and awareness, we can help people avoid these conditions. The purpose of this day is to support and provide funds for FDI's prevention, detection, and treatment program.
It encourages individuals, governments, organizations, schools, and the media to participate in national and global activities and efforts towards improving oral health.

The Importance of World Oral Health Day

We use our mouths to eat, speak and even smile, so caring for our oral health is imperative, no matter how old we are. Oral diseases are a grave concern in many countries and affect locals throughout their lives. Oral conditions such as tooth decay, gum disease, cavities, oral cancer, and bad breath cause pain and discomfort.

Moreover, they can also lead to social isolation, depression, anxiety, and loss of self-confidence. What makes it worse is that there's no need to suffer since most of these conditions are largely preventable and treatable.

At Davis Dental Practice, Our doctors or our doctors support the FDI's initiative and use our expertise to create awareness in our community. We encourage people to maintain their oral hygiene and have regular checkups to ensure optimal oral health.
