When you brush your teeth, do you time how long you brush for? Do you know how long you're supposed to brush for?
We recommend that you brush your teeth for a minimum of two minutes, twice every day. Flossing is recommended by our office to be done at least once a day. This can help to remove the plaque, build up and bacteria that is found inside the mouth. Make sure to brush your gums, tongue and inside of the mouth while also brushing your teeth.
What Happens if You Don't Brush for Two Minutes?
If you don't brush your teeth for the recommended time from our office, you're not removing all of the plaque and build up, bacteria, and other germs that sit on the outside of the teeth. It is important that you brush within the specified time.
When this bacterium is not removed from the teeth, from between the teeth, this causes cavities to form in between the teeth. You don't want this to happen. If you don't brush these areas, you're allowing the bacteria to break down the enamel of the teeth. Brushing is something that everyone should do as soon as you have teeth, and even before then.
In addition to brushing for the recommended amount of time, twice a day, you also want to make sure that you're coming into our office for the cleanings that are needed twice a year. Our hygienists are very good at removing build up that you may have missed while brushing twice a day. Our dentists can then provide the exam that is needed to fix the teeth and make sure that they are in the best quality that they need to be in. Call our office today to schedule a time to come in for a cleaning and exam. Smile with confidence once again.
