Make Sure Your Filling Matches the Type of Cavity You Have
Posted on 1/8/2018 by Office
When it comes to having cavities filled in the mouth, it is important to make sure that the right filling is put in the cavity based on the type of cavity it is. The cavity that is in the mouth is one that should be taken care of sooner, rather than later.
One of the biggest things to think about is that if you have a superficial cavity, you need to have this filled right away. Small cavities can easily turn into larger cavities if they are not taken care of sooner, rather than later. Never let these cavities go.
Type of Filling for Cavities
Superficial cavities just need a quick layer over the area once it has been cleaned out. This is usually done using an amalgam filling. This will then cover the area and ensure that the cavity does not grow to be bigger.
Additionally, some fillings that are deeper and usually in the back of the mouth need to be filled using a metal material.
This is something that is stronger and can hold better and for a longer period of time in the mouth. You want to make sure that those larger cavities are taken care of. These cavities if too deep would need a root canal, filling and crown to fix.
